Notepad++ deals with the different eol.

Download v4.5 ziped release, unzip it to a clean folder, then redo the actions.
It should work.

Could you zip the %Appdata%\Notepad++ and send it to me to :
don . h @ free . fr

BTW, did you download Unix file to your local drive, then open it with
Notepad++?

Notepad++ crashes immediately (or should i say disappeared since no errors are
displayed) as soon as i clicked Save As or File->Save as.. or File->Save

I have also found this behavior debilitating. We need a configuration option
to control this, assuming it does not exist already. For my own purposes it
is much more useful to keep commenting naive.

For example, if I have a block of code with some lines commented, commenting
the entire block should just, well, comment the entire block, including the
already commented lines. And uncommenting a block should not add comments to
uncommented lines.

Thnx again, Don, for such a great program!

Best wishes
Idris

i think that al supportet language is hardcoded in notepad++.

its by your own to look in another editor and take the highligted to notepad++.

You can loof in this HOWTO:
http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/UserLanguageDefineSystem-HOWTO.php

And if you made it, you are -THE LUCKY GUY- who can send the
Erlang-userDefineLang.xml to DonHo. %))
Maybe many people would appreciate your work.

I use Windows XP Pro SP2 full updated.
I tried to insert the Unicode character U+06CC directly from my keyboard, but
Notepad++ converted it to U+064A. Changing format to UTF-8 with(out) BOM and
Unicode Big and Little endian did not work.
I think it occurred because Notepad++ is not a Unicode application and uses
system CodePage (mine is 1256) to insert the characters. Are there any solutions
?

Incidentally I would appreciate a "This file is massive, are you sure you want
to load it?" sanity-check dialog for anything over 100Mb. I've had big log files
open, but really it depends what else you have open.

Being notified when files are upadated is not the same thing as being bothered
constantly when a file is a buffer with no backing. The concepts are seperate
but the option to disable the second - extremely annoying - behavior also
affects
the first behavior.

I think the bottom line is that most of us would perfer to only be told once
per file status change at most. Then, if a file is being altered constantly
by some other process, delay alerts for 5 minutes or something like that.

Terrible infact. Really terrible that you are associating it with .bat files...
don't do it because it isn't a smart thing to do.

Hmm I just had a thought.

What if Notepad++ saw that when you were opening a large file it would split
it into multiple smaller temporary files. This would be then managed by keeping
a track of start line ranges and end line ranges so that things like go to line
number X would work. Also I suppose three of these files must be open at all
times. One on the current view, one for the data above the current view and
one for the data below that. When the current view changes into a file above
or below the current view it drops the furthest away one and loads a new one
to keep the rule true.

That probably is as clear as mud. :)

This will be hard to implement and whether the time needed to do this would
really make the gains for the majority of users that could warrant implementing
it.

I'm running NPP v4.5 with the "Minimize to sys tray" option enabled.

Run NPP and minimize it... it goes to sys tray.

Now attempt to start a new copy of NPP, for example double clicking the desktop
icon, the copy of NPP already running correctly shows up, the icon shows up
in the task bar but the sys tray icon is not removed.

The sys tray icon should be removed when NPP is called out of sys tray by the
attempt to run a second copy.

Regards,

Franco
