It's a quite new feature of Notepad++.

Select the lines you want to hide, then Menu View->Hides Lines.

I think.

It's an intentional behaviour.

Hi there,

It's happening to me as well: trying to open Preferences always crashes the
program.

(The only way to get rid of the auto-updater issue was to uninstall NPP and
then reinstall it without the auto-updater.)

Any info about this?

Thanks. -LV

1. Other plugins use plugin/Config/ to store their INI file

I plan to move it there eventually. I just haven't done it yet because other
features have taken priority, plus I have to come up with a plan to deal with
backward-compatibility.

2. Is it possible to generate submenus from the defined "[group]" parts
of SimpleScript.ini for a faster access to the scripts?

Are you talking about actual submenus in the Notepad++ menu structure? That's
a very interesting idea. I'll have to think about it. I don't know how to
create submenus themselves, but I could potentially see the possibility to add
some of your favorite scripts to the Simple Script menu. I've been trying to
figure out a way to add shortcuts to scripts, especially for the purpose of
using scripts for code snippets. This could be a possible solution.

Here's what I would have done last March -

Make empty all the lines I want gone and then use TextFX->Text Edit->Delete
Blank Lines

But if the file already had blank lines I wanted to keep, then
use the Hex-Editor plugin (or advanced find replace) to insert some unique
character
at the beginning of every line
(by replacing the end-of-line chars with the end-of-line chars + unique char),
and then
use a regular expression to make blank all the lines I wanted gone, and then
TextFX->Text Edit->Delete Blank Lines

For example, in Advanced Find/Replace (ie control-R, ie ^R) and without regex
checked:

Find: ^M
Replace: ^M!

and touch up to get '!' at beginning of every line in file, and then (with regex
checked):

Find: (.*special word.*)
Replace:

now all desired lines to delete are blank, and then
TextFX->Text Edit->Delete Blank Lines

now restore original blank lines (w regex):

Find: ^!
Replace:

hope this helps the nobody from a year ago :-)

You can hide the body of individual comments by clicking the [-] box in the
margin preceding the start of the comment or pressing <Ctrl-Alt-F> with the
cursor in a comment.

You can hide all level N comments using View: Collapse the Level: (level N),
but this has the side effect of folding all xml tags at that same level.

To quickly collapse all comments, and only comments, at all levels, the only
way I know is with a macro:

1. Use the Find dialog to find the search string "<--", then click Close to
close the Find dialog.

2. Record the macro
<Ctrl-Alt-F> <F3>

3. Play macro to end of file

Of course, there may be other, simpler ways that I don't know about.

Regards.
Greg

I am running Notepad ++ 4.7.5 under MS Windows 98SE and printing to a HP Deskjet
895 CSE Inkjet printer through a usb port. I can open a file and click on
File/Print
Now and nothing happens. I can print from any other program without any
problems.
Also selecting File/Print does not print the file. I uninstalled and
reinstalled
the program with on change.

hello,

the right to left Language environment NP++ behaves strange
as it still tries to do everything in the ordinary left to right way

like when highlighting, typing .etc

what makes it absolutely impossible to make anything of it

also the fonts look very outdated meaning they lookslike they came from an old
dos system

in short there maybe other better stuff to use for "right to left Language
environment"

but i wouldn't know what machineries are available for that same as i don't
know what is used here

btw windows notepad seems to be the only notepad that works correctly
among all third party ones as most of them dont offer Language environment
support!
