manp, thank you! It works! :-)
Total Commander uses Shift+ESC shotcut. I think it's very useful to minimize
notepad++ by the same way.

Aha!

Now I see what the problem was. I should have paid more attention to the above
comments. The Close button doesn't work. The "x" button does.

Easy solution. I just removed the Close button. It's just taking up space
anyway. If you want to close the plugin, click the "x". If it's docked with
other plugins and you don't want to close the others, middle-click on the Simple
Script tab.

This should fix the immediate problems. The other issues reported about the
problems on the Simple Script tab when docked with other plugins will have to
wait until I can design an icon for it.

I agree, and its an easy fix, I put the patch in the tracker. Maybe it fixes
some bugs with auto-update too since its roughly in the same category (wrong
document getting updates, possibly because of the focus).

Any objections to me calling the plugin "CharM"? I figure it I keep this one
nice and basic and mainly use it for substituting single characters or character
codes, the name is pretty good. It is, after all, intended to be a type of
character map.

Thanks, deus-ex, for the suggestion.

Maybe its due to bad eyesight or something, but when I have black text with
a light blue background for the active line (which I like), its hard to see
a single parenthesis when it turns dark green (or dark red, or dark any color
really).

Anyway I guess the point is, active line highlighting works on the entire line,
its pretty obvious which line is currently active even if a parenthesis or two
has a different background color. So I have a hard time understanding why
active
line highlighting takes precedence over matching brace highlighting (or at least
why there isn't an option to choose).

On a side note, does anyone know if there's a configuration file that controls
which characters are used for brace detection for a given language? I wanted
to mess around with it and see if I could get highlighting for begin/end pairs
in Pascal, among other things. I couldn't seem to find such a file after some
looking. Is this hard-coded into the program?

Please *do* use the new Scintilla feature "The horizontal scroll bar may grow
to match the widest line displayed. ". That would be a great fix.

Hi Jens

Just tested it with only explorer.dll. Still get problems.

I'm not really bothered by lack of tooltips in Explorer. Just very odd that
in Favorites I do get tooltips. And nobody else has mentioned it so, I don't
know :-)

But the main problem is that the closed file still remains underlined in both
Favorites and Explorer.

all the best

Okay, I think I've got everything fixed now. I removed the "Close" button,
which was causing problems. Now you need to close it with the "x" button (or
middle-click on the Simple Script tab if it's docked with other plugins).

If there are still unresolved issues with the docking, post them here.

Note: The SimpleScript.ini file must now be in the plugins\Config folder.
If you just have it in the plugins folder, you'll need to move it.

Again, thanks to Zobo for fixing the docking problems.

You might as well remove the Run button then, if you are so into easy
solutions...

Why remove a button that has a clear meaning and is much more common to press
than a "desastrous" X that is there on any form?

Patience. Or should I say, impatience, since I just finished uploading it.
And yes, it's called CharM (pronounced "Charm").

I'll start a new thread with a link, but in the mean time, you can find it on
the Notepad++ plugins project page.

I just uploaded version 0.9 of the new CharM plugin.

It works similar to Windows Character Map, but with filters. Highlight a
letter,
select Plugins->CharM->Character Map and it presents you with variations for
that letter. e.g. "a", "?", "?", and "?" are all variations of each other.

It may also work with short pieces of text. For example, "a" is the HTML
ASCII value of "a", so highlighting "a" will bring up the same options.

Click the option to replace the selected text.

Version 9.0 is fully functional. Right now it only presents options for letters
with non-english variations, e.g. "?". If you have any suggestions for other
letters or short pieces of text that you would like to see included in the
default
configuration, post them here. Also, I'm not entirely satisfied with the
interface,
so if you have suggestions of how to improve it, I'd like to hear them.

You can download it at:

http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=189927&package_id=264072
