and a Whole Lot of Irony.

I find it pretty ironic that I came here this morning to notify the developers
that there is a typographical error on one of the alert boxes. It has no effect
on the operation or usability of the program. Chances are good that very few
people would even noticed. I have always been very conscious of spelling and
grammar. I promise it drives me as crazy as it does the people who are
recipients
to these notes.

Well, apparently the joke is on my this morning. The first thing I noticed
on the forum was a thread about the issues in Tibet. All I know of this subject
I have heard from the media. I have done no independent research so I consider
my knowledge to me minimal. I clicked on the link to see if I could gain a
better understanding of the issues. These threads about Tibet and Beijing are
an English teacher's worse nightmare. Holy Cow!

I find it funny that I came to post about something as picky as an alert box
displaying "Fount" instead of "Found" and get slammed by posts that tell me
pretty quickly that a good number of users, and possibly developers, are not
going to care about this in the least.

Enough of that. I am running Notepad++ v4.8.2 on Windows XP. When editing an
HTML file this morning I accidentally pressed alt-s instead of ctrl-s while
trying to save the file. An alert came up stating that the application "Can't
locate SVN information". The title of the alert box reads "File Not Fount".
I took a screen shot and posted it at
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll309/Hooked-On-Phonics/notepadTypo.jpg.

If anyone is bored today and could reply to this and let me know what an SVN
is, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Thank you for this list. I have been searching for material to help me learn
more about this. With so much coverage by the media, it is driving me crazy
that I don't have the background information. It seems like every search I
do on the web returns a page full of results in which half of them are plastered
with banners saying to "Free Tibet, They Must Be Saved" while the other half
are flashing "Blow Up Tibet, They All Must Die". With all the web resources
I have found being highly political in nature, it will be nice to read some
unbiased literature. That is, literature that is as unbiased as anything
written
by man ever could be.

SVN is an acronym for Subversion, a version control system:
http://svn.tigris.org
The dialog box is shown not by the Notepad++ itself, but by the Compare plugin
(cf. main menu: Plugins - Compare).

The typo comes from Compare plugin (Menu Plugins->Compare->Compare against SVN
base).
I'm sure Ty (Compare plugin author) is notified now :)

> If anyone is bored today and could reply to this and let me know what an SVN

SVN is a revision control system. It's a source code repository which keeps
all the trace of modification and allows developers to work on the same source
code.

If you're tired of Tibet/OG issue, the following link may refresh your brain :

For some reason, I can no longer open txt files, whether I double click on them,
use the file>open option or what have you. If I double click on a txt file,
Notepad++ opens with whatever file I last had opened, or a new document,(as
it should) but doesn't open the file I selected. If I go to the file open menu
option, it lets me choose the file, but still doesn't open it. This includes
files that Notepad++ created itself, a few days earlier! This is very strange.
It is not limited to one file, it is a symptom affecting most of them.

And now the tech info:
Notepadd++ v4.8.2

Windows Vista Business
Service Pack 1

AMD Turion64 (x2)Mobile Technology 2.20 ghz with 2gb memory
32bit version of Vista.

Notepad has been running fine for me up until the past 2 days when it started
doing this. Any ideas?

Hi,

I am developing some scripts for Autodesk Inventor (3D Modelling software)
customization Tool.
Tool is compiling the scripts run time and update the model, which takes too
much time.

The NPP builds, 6 months back were working properly while this updation process.
but now it hangs up and allow to edit files after that.

Is this a file watcher problem?

but if I closed all files and open some file which is not related it (any text
file), also cleared up the recent list. But result is same.

Is any problem with Autodesk Inventor?

Thanks in advance.

Abhay Joshi

My bad. The Word style search-n-replace for carriage-returns and tabs... that's
in NoteTabPlus, not your program. The HowTo link you provided is helpful,
but the way NoteTabPlus does it is much more straight-forward, IMHO. However,
I will continue to use both programs for their strengths. Keep up the good
work.

I can not answer your question just from your global description. Do you have
more detailed description for your problem? And the info of your current version
and the 6 months back version will help also.

In the newest version (v4.8.5), the file monitor system (including Doc Monitor
plugin) is enhanced, there should not be the regression.

Don
