What coding do you work in? I have no problem with cursor jumps when cutting
or deleting. I always work in ANSI format. But seeing the extra characters,
I guess this may have something to do with double counting of characters/bytes.

version 1.4

good question, maybe because it feels a little weird to add a post to a long
dead and forgotten thread ?! maybe because I think that my request is pretty
easy to implement and probably isn't incorporated just because the n++ author
doesn't get the needed feedback? where does this thread's rabbit hole lead?

I see that this thread is several years old. Maybe another has my answer. I
had notepad++ installed before and I remember something like F7 being used to
save preferences. Right now I can't figure out how to save anything. Every
time I start Notepad++ I have to change all my preferences again because they
have reset to default. Simple things like showing white space and important
things like verbose backups. I am on a windows vista home basic machine.

Yeah, just start the war all over again, because you aren't satisfied with the
settlement!
That's exactly why you shouldn't start a new thread about the same thing.
It has been discussed before. If you really want to discuss it again, be sure
to bring the "dead" thread back to life, so anything that has been said about
it before, can be read just as well. It will be clear to many then, that perhaps
it isn't even worth discussing again. Probably we won't have to read another
load of messages, then.
And you show you did some research before simply posting your request.

All 4.8.X. Still using 4.8.5, because I wait until 4.9.X are available with
the online update feature.

Yea, Windows would allow me to do that, but the external monitor is larger and
just seems to feel better as the main monitor.
It is disappointing that Windows can't figure out which monitor I am on.
Maybe I will will remove some languages, it isn't likely I will be using a chunk
of those in the foreseeable future. Will it remember this as I upgrade, or will
I have to uninstall languages every upgrade?
