How about, instead, the bug gets fixed? I find the need for this workaround
a silly thing.

How would I search and replace file paths? The objective is to keep only the
parent folder and remove the path of any subfolders and files. For example,
out of

"DOCUMENT001" "PARENT\subfolderX\subfolderY\subfolderZ\fileA.zip"

I only want to see

"DOCUMENT001" "PARENT"

Would I have to use regular expression wildcards? And if so, which ones?

Hi,

Several versions ago, clicking on 'save as' for a new document will land you
in the directory of the last previously opened tab's directory. However, with
the last 3 or 4 releases, it lands you in Notepad++'s install directory. The
prior behaviour was quite a bit more useful.

Could somebody confirm ?

thanks.

oh, thats bad. So I still wait until 4.9.X will be released for the online
updater.

@ donho: Can you leave a notice here, if this behaviour is wanted, or will be
fixed in later versions? It would make me happy to know this. :)

I can confirm this with version 4.8.5.
I also prefer the old behaviour to get the last directory.

>What do you mean?

Lets say you have a java class MyClass.

Now you search in your source tree for example for "MyClass" throug the "find
in files" operation.
The result windows shows now 1000 lines in 220 files.

Now I like to narrow my search and want to find the definition of class MyClass
by searching in the result window from above for the text "class" instead of
doing a new search for "class MyClass".

Thanks anyway for the gerat editor,
Ulf

I did update LightExplorer from Npp plugin project.
As I mentioned above, in the about box is 1.4, but the property of binary show
1.5.

Please check it again. If it is v1.4 in v4.9.1, then send me the binary directly
(I'm preparing for v4.9.2).

Don

It should remember it. Updates usually only add new options, but any existing
ones will be kept as they are.

My remark wasn't meant to be sarcastic. But, yes, I'm not happy with all the
latest updates. If I make a text with accents in Notepad++ and I copy the text
in Word the conversion is wrong. For example if I type ? in Notepad++ and copy
it in Word I see ??. This bug is there for ages and it was mentioned several
times here.

Hey Don,

I really agree with these suggestions except last one. Regarding threading for
search I totally agree with it. I faced same problems many times. If I have
to add functinallity to some of files and I want to search the files it takes
long time where the desired results are at begining. And I can't stop the search
when I found the keywards are wrong which will bring up the huge result set.

also I will suggest to make Find and replace and other functinality as plugin
and run plugin in threading. so while plugins are doing their work, we can do
ours. :) Yes, this can have many conflicts but smart user can take care of it.

regarding last suggestions it will not be useful in such small window or it
will not be possible to create handy UI for it. It will be better to open all
files and then run "Find" command in opened file.

Here I will prefer to have some more functionally.. called "Grouping".. I know
Don you will feel to kick me out of this world, but I think this is the time
to implement this functinality.

Becase NPP is single instance software, multitasking people might want to keep
couple of editors. So "Grouping" will help to organize the opened files. what
I need the tabs over file tabs. So functionality like find and replace can be
done in specified tab.

I don't feel this correct place to suggest this. but I feel very good about
compare tool for SVN.
I will like to have same thing implemented for CVS. Also update and commit using
NPP.. surely you will deny this suggestion, but this is implemented for
Microsoft
visual studio and NPP is not IDE. The facilities of "Language" toolbar lead
me to think in this direction.

sorry for long draft. but I will definatly I will like peoples views on it.

Best Regards,

Abhay Joshi
