Hi.

There seems to be a little problem with opening any files using Notepad++ 4.9.2.
It can be files with known extensions manually added to be opened in Notepad++
using "C:\Program Files\Notepad++\notepad++.exe" %1 as parameter, it can be
unknow extension files, that I open using right click menu > Open with > choose
Notepad++ there, it can be files with extension that belongs to other
applications,
I choose right click menu > Open with > menu with Notepadd++ entry in it (since
I opened that filetype with this program before). It does not matter what file
it is, when I try to open it, I get 'File not exists. Create it?' dialog window
and the document is blank. It works to open files from the inside tho (File
> Open).

I previosly used, and still using 4.8.5 and everything works fine there. Running
on Windows XP SP3 (32 bit).

Any suggestions? Thank you.

Look for "Cannot use the notepad++.exe %1" in the thread list.

Hi,

there is a small issue with right-to-left. in Arabic the letters has a shape
when it is connected to each other and a different shape when it is separate
(single character).

when selecting a portion of a text in notepad++, the letters in the border of
selection get separate shape although it is connected with each other.

example:

???????????

turn to:
?????? ??? ??

when you select the middle word by mouse.

I have a suggestion also about making right-to-left mode per each open file
(tab) and not for all of them.

Allright, it looks like it could not handle spaces in filename path. I have
read that post before but didn't think it would do the trick. :)

Thank you and sorry for bothering.

Don, I love Notepad++ and use it all the time. Recently I've had to start
loading
very large text (log) files. They're just standard text files that are range
from about 65MB to 105MB in size. I'm having a really hard time with NPP taking
so long to open them up! Then once it opens, I can hardly select/highlight
anything with my mouse because that takes a long time too.

I was just wondering if it would be at all possible if you could possibly please
look into this on a future release. It would be great if NPP could read the
first 20 or so first pages in the file and perhaps show the file instantly while
it finishes loading the background. Maybe a small icon or progress bar in the
status bar at the bottom of NPP would indicate it's still loading. That way
anyone already doing a search or going to the end of the document would know
there's more coming.

Any how, thanks for all the work on this program. Hope you can look into this
sometime.

Best Regards,

Frank

Hi,

Keep in mind that Scintilla does not have true bidi support. Npp provides a
global reversal to give a nice and useful RL flavor, but it is not "the real
thing" so to speak (eg, no bidi algorithm support). Neil Hodgson (the Scintilla
developer) and I already discussed this a couple of years or so back.

As for your second suggestion... that's up to Don, and I agree it would be nice,
to have tab-based global RL if it's feasible...

Best wishes
Idris

First of all..... Notepad++ is a wonderful product - It has been an asset to
my projects!

Is there a way to specify a default folder where all edited documents are saved?
I recently did an update (via the updater) and discovered that all of my 'files'
I have been working on were in the same directory as the executable were
deleted.
I prefer to keep all my 'variable' files in specific folders within the 'My
Documents" folder.....

Thanks,
Henri

I created two files with nothing in them, one in notepad and another in
notepad++.
Both could be opened in notepad++ so I guess being unable to open files that
didn't originate in notepad++ is not the problem.

When I compared the properties of a file I made and a file I had downloaded
the only difference was that the one I downloaded was not marked for archiving.
When I check it however, it still doesn't open in notepad++.

I copied the text over from a file I downloaded (and was unable to open with
notepad++) into dreamweaver and saved it then tried to open it in notepad++
and it worked.

Now I'm just confused -_-

Hi

I'm trying to create my own userDefineLang.xml file and I'm stuck. I'd like
to create a bbcode alike language and I've done this:

<Keywords name="Operators">[ ] =</Keywords>
<Keywords name="Comment"></Keywords>
<Keywords name="Words1">h2 /h2</Keywords>

So, when I write:

[h2]This is a title[/h2]

...everything works right.

But when I write something like:

... ... ... h2 ... ... ...

The 'h2' text gets also highlighted. This is a problem for me because I'm using
common words for the tagging in the form of [word-A], [word-B], etc...

How can I avoid the highlighting of words without operators around?

Thanks in advance.

Yea! Had exactly the same problem. It finally bugged me enough I took the
10 minutes to hunt down the solution.

Now I love Notepad++ even more!
