2Don:

- Could you please left more space at the end of the static text controls in
the future versions? (when possible, of course, Czech equivanlents are generally
a little bit longer than the English ones...)
- Also what about a future translation's versioning/changelog (as we discussed
by email before)?

Bye
Ondrej

Same issue. Also doesn't respond to double click in Light Explorer. Also went
back to 4.9.2, and all is well. Windows XP Pro.

The Macro Recorder works with some, but not all, menu commands. It doesn't
work with any commands from the TextFX or Plugins menus, and it doesn't work
within any dialog boxes (such as the Find/Replace window), but it works with
most other menu commands.

Some recent changes -- introduced with, I think, 4.9 -- tripped up the macro
playback, so <F3> no longer works in most cases, and <Ctr-C> and <Ctrl-V> also
have problems now. Some of these recent problems are fixed in the v5.0 beta,
and I'm hoping we can fix others in time for the release. Alas, I won't be
able to help any more to this effort for at least another week.

Regards.
Greg

Hello all,

I searched the forum for an answer but searching for search brought back
information
overload.

I use search A LOT. 90% of the time what I'm searching for is covered by the
search box or just off the viewable page.

This is very frustrating. I tried using transparency, but that drives my eyes
crazy.

Is there an option I missed somewhere to make searched items more visible?

Thanks,

Cliff

You definitely should try Incremental Search. This feature was built in
especially
for you.

Menu_____ : Search
Option___ : Incremental Search... (Ctrl+Alt+I)

Just type, watch and be amazed.

Notepad++ is a text/code editor, not a word processor.

You can set styles for different (user defined) programming
languages/highlighting,
but there is no way you can select text and manually apply underlining etc.

Mainly, you need to be a ble to prgrammatically retrieve the API you want to
generate autocomplete for, I know Java can do it, PHP has files for that and
other languages too. Then, you need to generate XML for it. You can look at
some example API XML files in Notepad++ to get the general idea. Its still in
development so there isnt much, but the PHP file is the richest in detail.
I find TinyXML a very handy framework to work with. Notepad++ makes use of it
and if you know C++ its easy to do. However, not many people do but there are
plenty of alternatives, you can probably even pull it off with regex (though
notepad++ regex is limited :))

Here's the v5 Release Candidate :
http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/commun/misc/npp.5.0.RC.bin.zip

One new feature that you html/xml guys will adore it : Tag match highlighting.
Otherwise a lot of found bugs in v5 beta are fixed in this release.
(see : https://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=2082790&forum_id=331753
)

Sure you will still find bugs since the architecture of Notepad++ are modified
partially in order to improve the performance.

To make v5 OR more stable, please post your bug reports here.

v5 OR will be available in one week.

Don

As you can notice in Notepad++ v5, the save/open/close document operations
behaviour
is changed in order to improve performance.

Such improvement may make your plugins work not as you expect if your are using
the following notification :
NPPN_FILEBEFORECLOSE
NPPN_FILECLOSED
NPPN_FILEBEFOREOPEN
NPPN_FILEOPENED
NPPN_FILEBEFORESAVE
NPPN_FILESAVED

To remedy that, Notepad++ v5 passes the current operated buffer ID to plugins,
then plugins can get full file path or view|index in view from buffert ID. It
means you may need to modify your plugins to make them work correctly if you
use above notifications.

Here's modified Notification :

        #define NPPN_FILEBEFORECLOSE (NPPN_FIRST + 3) // To notify plugins that
the
current file is about to be closed
        //scnNotification->nmhdr.code = NPPN_FILEBEFORECLOSE;
        //scnNotification->nmhdr.hwndFrom = hwndNpp;
        //scnNotification->nmhdr.idFrom = BufferID;

        #define NPPN_FILEOPENED (NPPN_FIRST + 4) // To notify plugins that the
current
file is just opened
        //scnNotification->nmhdr.code = NPPN_FILEOPENED;
        //scnNotification->nmhdr.hwndFrom = hwndNpp;
        //scnNotification->nmhdr.idFrom = BufferID;

        #define NPPN_FILECLOSED (NPPN_FIRST + 5) // To notify plugins that the
current
file is just closed
        //scnNotification->nmhdr.code = NPPN_FILECLOSED;
        //scnNotification->nmhdr.hwndFrom = hwndNpp;
        //scnNotification->nmhdr.idFrom = BufferID;

        #define NPPN_FILEBEFOREOPEN (NPPN_FIRST + 6) // To notify plugins that
the
current file is about to be opened
        //scnNotification->nmhdr.code = NPPN_FILEBEFOREOPEN;
        //scnNotification->nmhdr.hwndFrom = hwndNpp;
        //scnNotification->nmhdr.idFrom = BufferID;

        #define NPPN_FILEBEFORESAVE (NPPN_FIRST + 7) // To notify plugins that
the
current file is about to be saved
        //scnNotification->nmhdr.code = NPPN_FILEBEFOREOPEN;
        //scnNotification->nmhdr.hwndFrom = hwndNpp;
        //scnNotification->nmhdr.idFrom = BufferID;

        #define NPPN_FILESAVED (NPPN_FIRST + 8) // To notify plugins that the
current
file is just saved
        //scnNotification->nmhdr.code = NPPN_FILECLOSED;
        //scnNotification->nmhdr.hwndFrom = hwndNpp;
        //scnNotification->nmhdr.idFrom = BufferID;

And 2 new added messages :

        #define NPPM_GETPOSFROMBUFFERID (NPPMSG + 57)
        // INT NPPM_GETPOSFROMBUFFERID(INT bufferID, 0)
        // Return VIEW|INDEX from a buffer ID. -1 if the bufferID non existing
        //
        // VIEW takes 2 highest bits and INDEX (0 based) takes the rest (30
bits)
        // Here's the values for the view :
        //  MAIN_VIEW 0
        //  SUB_VIEW  1

        #define NPPM_GETFULLPATHFROMBUFFERID (NPPMSG + 58)
        // INT NPPM_GETFULLPATHFROMBUFFERID(INT bufferID, CHAR *fullFilePath)
        // Get full path file name from a bufferID.
        // Return -1 if the bufferID non existing, otherwise the number of char
copied/to
copy
        // User should call it with fullFilePath be NULL to get the number of
char
(not including the nul character),
        // allocate fullFilePath with the return values + 1, then call it again
to
get  full path file name

The last snapshot (code source) is in svn, including Notepad_msgs.h :
http://notepad-plus.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/notepad-plus/PowerEditor/src/MISC
/PluginsManager/Notepad_plus_msgs.h?revision=258&view=markup

You can download Notepad++ v5 RC here to test with your plugin :
http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/commun/misc/npp.5.0.RC.bin.zip

Please let me know if you found any not working message in v5.

Don
