Actually, I don't completely understand what is the problem, but here is an
example how I execute AWK files from Notepad++:
1) copy awk.exe (or awk95.exe) to your Notepad++'s folder
2) create or open an AWK file (a text file containing some AWK program)
3) press F6 (or Plugins -> NppExec -> Execute...) and type the following:

// save current file
NPP_SAVE
// execute current file (.awk file expected)
"$(NPP_DIRECTORY)\awk.exe" -f "$(FULL_CURRENT_PATH)"

4) press OK and your AWK program will be executed.

You can do similar steps to run your .py files.
However, be sure that your version of Python does not require a real console.
I mean, it may require an existing text-mode screen buffer which can be provided
only by a real console. Whereas NppExec's Console window is actually a
RichEdit's
window which shows the output redirected through pipes, so it has no text-mode
screen buffer.

The file history in the file menu of Notepad++ v5 does not work for me. In
v4.9.2
and all previous versions I used it works without problems. Feature is activated
in the preferences. Using Windows XP SP2. Does someone have the same problem?

> Wow, you must have added the Selection checkbox by mistake, then!

Nop.
If you look more carefully in the Find tab, you'll see "In selection" check
box is grouped with "Find All" button and other options.

I have no idea how your old version of Notepad++ can "Find Next" and "Count"
in selected box.
But I ensure you that "in selection" option does never be token into account
with both operations ("Find Next" and "Count").

If i type <Script something here/> in a xml file, the syntax highlighting would
not work for the next several lines under it. This bug seems to exist in all
versions of cpp.

I use 5.0.

OK, the selection checkbox on the Find tab apparently belongs to the Find All
functionality, which itself is a button inside the group. So it is not totally
clear what the group itself is meant to represent. On the Replace tab, there
is a slightly more clearer grouping, as the box is drawn only around the
selection
checkbox and the Replace All button.

I think this simply demonstrates that a good redesign of these dialog tab is
desirable.

Hi Don,

I made a test html file, in which the tags match highlighting feature doesn't
work as it should.
You can download it from http://rapidshare.com/files/127813816/test.html

If you will go on the first div, you will notice that the closing tag is not
highlighted. Instead, the closing tag from the line 10 is.

Hope this will be of some help.

Thanks

In the second view, checking "higlight the current row" seems to do the opposite
of what it should.

Well, here's another problem I think is related to this, and this one is really
annoying.

I have a SQL Server output file, containing both LF only and CRLF linebreaks.
It has a lot of trash in it, I want to delete prior to having to perform these
two actions to get only the Windows CRLF linebreaks.

But when I select the repeating block of a couple of lines containing only an
LF linebreak and try to replace them by nothing, the Ctrl+R advanced
Find/Replace
dialog can't find them!!!

At least, I would expect that what I directly select and is copied into the
Find field of the Find/Replace dialog, can be found!

This problem would probably be avoided if I could directly select to convert
all linebreak into the Windows CRLF format. I guess if I select the lines then,
they will be found.

The Ctrl+F/H Find/Replace dialog does find the LF linebreaks, but it doesn't
copy the selection completely, but only 64 characters. I can add more text,
but not the other linebreaks... So I can't use this one either.

Which post?

> how do I use smart tag highliting?

Just double click a word :)
Smart highlight make highlight all the same token on that you double click.
It may be useful if you try to find where you use the variable in a function.

Then you're welcome.
Just send me your web design - I don't do any guarantee that I'll accept the
design.
