i am a web designer, that before im using dreamweaver everytime i design, and
found it so un clever cuz im using it as a cracked with no license at all,..that
is why i shift to notepad ++ and it helps me enhance my coding capability with
out any help of the dreamweaver wizards,..

so i said to my self " why not support the notepad ++" by contributing a more
fresher look of the site,...and that is why i post a topic here so that i will
know what people think about it..

open source are really good staff, that is why it motivates me to help just
by designing a website for them,
like firefox, they are open source and yet they also have a cool website in
which influenced people to visit them and makes them more popular.....

i would like to contact to the person who developed the notepad ++ site...thus
anybody here who can send me a email?

this idea really sounds funny, but what more can i say cuz i really do promote
open source softwares like notepad ++..

thanks a lot...

I just can say that the article about 2 MB size limit in Notepad++ is VERY
stupid.
VERY stupid, I can repeat it again and again.
In fact, maximum file size in Notepad++ is limited by two things:
1) memory required by Scintilla to show the file + some memory for Notepad++
to open the file
2) amount of physical memory (RAM) on your PC.

As an example, I have just opened a UTF-8 file with a size of 80 MB. Yes, 80
MB.
The memory required by Notepad++ to open this file was about 250 MB while the
file was opening.
After the file has been opened, Notepad++ memory usage became 180 MB.

So, as it's not hard to calculate, 500 MB of free RAM (if you have 1 GB of RAM
in total, and 500 MB is used by Windows and some running programs) would allow
you to open a file with a size about (80*500/250)=160 MB.
How do you think, 160 MB is greater than 2 MB ????
So, please, don't quote incompetent information and don't make false conclusions
basing on this information.

Why would Wikipedia feel it necessary to list whether text editors can handle
large file sizes?

I didn't start this thread so that it could degenerate into a pissing contest.
I started it because I read in Wikipedia that Notepad++ doesn't support large
file sizes. I asked this question in a previous thread and the respondent
admitted
that this feature wasn't implemented. I opened this thread to read responses
on how people who use Notepad++ get around this limit if they need to design
programs with large amount of coding to do, that's all. Anything wrong with
that?

I'm sure Notepad++ satisfies the majority of users who choose to use it...I'm
not yelling wolf to get them to stop. It's just that I felt it was okay to start
a thread on this "curiosity" mentioned on Wikipedia about the Notepad++
limitation
and see how people get around it.

I have thousands of HTML documents I want to add the Google Analytics code to.
Since it is two javascripts which depend on load order, I can't simply add it
as an external .js file. I have to add the code to the HTML.

The code is large, so Control H is out - the replace with is not long enough
to do this. Control R does this just fine with a single document, but for the
life of me I can not figure out how to do this search and replace on all my
open files.

I want to replace </body> with the Google code + </body> on thousands of files.
Is there a way to automate this with Notepad++? I can do it in VB, but I'm
trying to find easier ways to do these things I do daily.

Thank you! BTW - Love Notepad++.

Have you also performed some steps to get function list working again?

I've put a certain config file in the root and after that the highlighting was
broken like in your image. It seems like there are several defaults :-S

Hi Folk,

I got some error msgs when invoding Notepad++ V5. The first popup windows is
"CreateProcess Access is denied". After clicking OK, I got the other popup
"Exception: 1002". When clicking OK, Notepad++ is opened with fine.
Do you have any suggestion on this?

Thanks in advance.
Aphiwat

Hello,
I'm trying to compile NP5.0.3 (and the latest SVN tarball).
Compilation passes fine, but the resulted executable does not display the
toolbar
(even when checking/un-checking the hide option in settings).

>From what I can see:
bool ReBar::getIDVisible(int id) {
        int index = (int)SendMessage(_hSelf, RB_IDTOINDEX, (WPARAM)id, 0);
        if (index == -1 )
return false; //error <-- we get here!!
It seems that there is a failure in ReBar::addBand.

Is the 5.0.3 was really compiled from the 5.0.3.src package?

Thanks

I've been trying to find decent debuggers for Python. The ones freely available
are either too bulky or too error-prone. I would not need too many fancy
features
other than controlling the flow/variables values/stack view.

Having been a NPP fan for a long time now, I have been trying to find a decent
Debugger plugin for Python. Can somebody point me to one ?
