What a fantastic product! Somebody just commented to me do not edit in notepad because when you upload file to AIX or Unix it introduces control M at the end of line. It does not happens in notepad++ but does happen in notepad by microsoft. Just want to make sure that I am safe and it will not introduce any control character and will be allright when I open the file on AIX in VI editor later on. Please give your suggsetion and thannks for reading this note. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. It was my bad I typed as LH, what I meant was LF only. Getting a library into our server is a long process and should go through many approvals at corporate level. I'm looking at solution more towards Notepad++ as it is already available and just wondering about the availability of command line options for conversion when this could be done through Notepad++ editor (GUI). To put my problem with more details, We are SFTP a file from UNIX to Windows and doing FTP the same file from Windows to Mainframes. Now when the file is sent to Mainframes, we are seeing only one record instead of many. One of the possible reasons which we are thinking here is since the file originated on UNIX, it has "LF" as new line and when it is transmitted to Mainframes, it is not seeing all the records and truncating from the second record. Now I'm trying to replace "LF" with "CRLF" hoping to have the problem fixed. I don't see why you would want to use an editor just for this purpose. It involves a lot of more things to happen than just using a tool which can simply do what you want. There may even be other utilities designed specifically for what you want. I would never want some kind of process to use a heavy publishing office application, just because it is already available, for easy things like this. A lot of people use their car to get themselves only a small distance further. They all complain when fuel prices rise again. They simply ignore the fact that they could do a lot to save money and the environment - I guess that's just not important to them. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. I try to have an external command to decode messages. This messages can literally very very long. Unfortunately the variable $(CURRENT_WORD) has limited length and truncate the message hence my decoder fail to decode it. How to reproduce the fault: type in 1 line: 123456789012345... (upto 270 characters) Then run an external command (Run\Run) and type in: cmd /k echo $(CURRENT_WORD) And execute it. A command prompt window will pop up and echoing only the first 259 characters. The older version of NPP (upto 5.1.1) used to crash, but the NPP 5.2 is better, however it truncate it. But I need this function as some of my messages goes a lot longer than that. I tried to make my group using NPP instead of the expensive MultiEdit, however this fault may hinder this :(. Can you please fix this? Thank you very much for your kind attention. In some other forums they have 'articles' 'fixed at the head of the form messages that address technical issues and introductory help to deter 'already answered' questions. The Source Forge forum tool doesn't seem to have this ability. Also, the forum search tool is not very good at retrieving articles - I looked at regular expressions and got hundreds of hits. Hence, to some extent, we are victim to the technical limitations of the forum tool. The Npp project has a Npp Wiki which seems to be for more considered articles on various aspects of Npp. I would suggest we promote the use of the Wiki. This could have articles on the subjects that people have most questions about. I've made two suggestions in Feature Requests proposing that (a) the Notepad++ Wiki get a link on the Npp home page and, (b) the Forum index page get updated and have the Help and Open Discussion forums be combined (they don't seem to serve any purpose being separate). If these suggestions are adopted then there can be a move in the direction of reviewing the function of the forums and ways in which users get help. For my part, as anewbie to Npp, I have had a lot of questions about search-n-replace and regular expressions. I am now preparing a series of articles on what I've learned and discovered. I intend to post these articles to the Wiki. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum.
