This appears to be fileswitcher doing it's SCI_SETDOCPOINTER switch game when
a buffer is activated. Just tested on 5.4 with and without the fileswitcher
plugin - it exhibits the behaviour with it included and not if it isn't.
Have you got fileswitcher installed? If so, I'll take a look at fixing this
in the fileswitcher.

Apologies for the static... just found the Notepad++ Plugins forums!
Found a solution though, which I will also post in the correct forum...
essentially,
the xdebug dll provided with xampp does not work properly (in my case anyway)
and crashes Apache. Replace with the latest from XDebug site and voila!

Yes Dave, it *is* the FileSwitcher plugin that causes the problem.
I noticed the problem at the office. Here at home it worked just fine. After
putting only FileSwitcher.dll in the plugin directory, the problem was there.
After removing the dll everything worked as expected again.

I confirm this bug - only for the non-western languages such as Chinese
or Russian.
This bug exists in v5.3.1 and it'll be fixed in v5.4.1.

I have a problem with syntax highlighting.
Notepad++ ignore commented symbol in strings. How can I set up comment (ignore)
symbol for User Defined Language?
For example my code looks like this:
string $mess = "You should set \"name\" for project";
Notepad++ in this case always break string highlighting on second quote, but
really should ignore it because it commented with \.
How can I set up comment (ignore) symbol for user defined language?
Also... when you'll fix brackets display? When you select brackets it change
size and position and sometimes I really can't see what symbol is selected,
because it offset to 1 symbol (not always).
Is it possible to fix bracket offset during selection?
