Notepad++ is great, but it does one strange thing:

I often use the standard keyboard shortcuts Shift+Home and Shift+End to select
the text from the cursor to the beginning or end of the line.

In Notepad++, these shortcuts select the text all the way to the beginning or
end of the _paragraph_ instead.

Is there any way to change this to the standard behavior?

Thanks, ander

Oh, and how do you hide the toolbar? I never use it, and it's pretty distracting
having to see it all the time. Thanks again!

OK, finally:

1) The problem with the "Recent Files List" seems to be system-specific, or
locale-specific. I can't reproduce it on different versions of Windows XP (tried
SP2 and SP3, English and Russian).

2) Problems with searching for Cyrillic (in general, non-Latin) characters in
UCS-2 or UTF-8 files, including the "Match case" problem, is caused by
not-completely-patched version of SciLexer.dll in Notepad++ 5.4.1.
To solve it, replace the file "SciLexer.dll" with its previous version from
Notepad++ 5.3.1. It's the only thing required.
However, both Notepad++ 5.3.1 and 5.4.1 have a problem with non-Latin text shown
in Notepad++'es "Find results" pane - some characters of non-Latin text found
in UCS-2 or UTF-8 files are shown incorrectly in the "Find results" pane. I'll
try to provide a patch for this.

As you may know NP++ users can enable "column block mode" by pressing the ALT
+ left mouse key.

Is there a way to activate/enable "Column block mode" by a menu or toolbar icon
as well?

I found no such menu/toolbar icon.

As I learned I can change the editor text font
through the menu:

Settings->Styler configuration->Default style

to a different font like "Lucida console".

Fine. However this setup changes ONLY the font style and font size but NOT the
line spacing (=gap between two lines).

Currently the gap between two lines is almost as much as a "normal" line. In
other editors where I use the same font "Lucida console" the line spacing is
much less.
So line spacing IS NOT a property of the used font.

How can I change the line spacing in NP++?

Thomas

How can I export all current settings ?

...and import them in another NotePad++ on a different computer?

I found no "export" (resp. import) menu.

Issue: The option "Don't use %APPDATA%" does not work properly anymore in 5.4.1
(Unicode).

Platform: Vista 32.
Symptoms:
NP++ does not remember:
- tabs (opened files);
- settings changes;
- does not make recently opened file entries;
--> unless it is run as administrator (which is undesirable).

This option used to work fine for me until 5.3.x or at least 5.2.x.
The problem is solved by re-installing without using this option.

I have a minimal definition for AutoIT, but I don't think it's fully complete
yet. I'm using it without errors, but if you have a better definition, please
post it.

Here is the definition:

    <Language name="AutoIT" imagelistpath="">
        <CommList param1=";" param2="" />
        <Group name="FUNCTION" subgroup="" icon="0" child="0" autoexp="0"
matchcase="1" fendtobbeg="" bbegtobend="\{" keywords="">
            <Rules regexbeg="^\s*func\s+" regexfunc="[\w_]+"
regexend="\s+[\(\)\s]*"
bodybegin="" bodyend="^\s*endfunc" sep="" />
            <Rules regexbeg="^\s*" regexfunc="[\w_]+" regexend="\s+\(\s*\)"
bodybegin="\{" bodyend="\}" sep="" />
        </Group>
    </Language>

1/ Go to Preferences -> Shortcut mapper -> Scintilla comands. Then try finding
which command Shift+Home is bound to. For me, it is SCI_VCHOMEEXTEND, and I
didn't tweak it. Shift+End is bound to SCI_LINEENDEXTEND. You may want to remap
the SCI_PARAUPXTEND command, default is Ctrl+Shift+[. SCI_PARADOWNEXTEND is
left as an exercise.

2/ Preferences -> Settings -> General, choose the Hide option in the Tool bar
frame.

The per file type tab expansion feature was already mentioned in the past:

https://sourceforge.net/search/index.php?group_id=95717&search_subject=1&search_
body=1&type_of_search=forums&all_words=tab+per+file+type&exact_phrase=&some_word
=&without_words=&forum_id[]=331754&forum_id[]=331753&posted_by=&posted_date_star
t=&posted_date_end=&form_submit=Search

I suggest that you add it to the IdeaTracker to be considered in a future
release.
