It is a common convention to start a comment with all caps TODO, XXX or FIXME
to make some problems jump out (see
<a href="http://c2.com/cgi/wiki?FixmeComment";>fixmecomm...@c2wiki</a> if you
are not familiar with the notation), and most editors support them with at least
syntax highlighting, (The coolest is probably Eclipse which instantly collects
them into a task list and also marks them on the scrollbar.)

If I understand correctly, this cannot be currently done in Np++, because 1)
no further highlight rules are applied to comments, and 2) there is no way to
define global highlight rules (it would be tedious to set such a rule separately
for every language; it makes sense to make rules that apply to comments
language-independent). It would be cool if Np++ would support "first word" (and
possibly "any word") language-independent highlight rules for the contents of
comments. (Of course, a FunctionList-style task list would make it even cooler
:)

AFAIK, the feature you are requesting (hiding toolbar buttons) is not supported
by Notepad++. The only way to modify the toolbar is to restart the program.
(Please, correct me if I'm wrong.)

If the restart option suits you, you can rename the "Toolbar" section in
WebEdit.ini,
say, make it "-Toolbar", and then exit Notepad++. This will remove all the
WebEdit
buttons on next startup.

is possible to apply the same colors from styles to the background of the
plugins,
if use black background to the editor it would be nice that rest ot screen
(plugin
actives) will be on the same color.

Thanks for the new release.

Issue still present in 5.4.2 (Unicode): The option "Don't use %APPDATA%" does
not work properly.

Platform: Vista 32.
Symptoms:
NP++ does not remember:
- tabs (opened files);
- settings changes;
- does not make recently opened file entries;
--> unless it is run as administrator (which is undesirable).

This option used to work fine for me until 5.3.x or at least 5.2.x.
The problem is solved by re-installing without using this option.

Maybe it is not necessary to re-install, but enough to remove the file
do.local.Config.xml from the program files/notepad++ folder?

Don, did you read my post regarding case-insensitive searching of non-Latin
characters?
https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=7419009

Also, the searching results (in the Find Results pane) inside UCS-2 and UTF-8
files seem to be shown incorrectly even for pure english text. Try to "Find
all in current document" inside some UCS-2 file with any text, and you'll see
that the find tokens are highlighted incorrectly (the highlighted string
positions
are incorrect) in the Find Results pane!

i know about regex and how to use it. but that still needs me to
find->copy->paste
to a new file the lines i need. try to do that over RDP to a server with a 300MB
file and i need about 30MB or 50MB of lines that match my find criteria. if
i even try to copy 30MB to the clipboard, RDP will start to sync the clipboard
of the server with my machine and that will take forever (i am talking from
experience). however find->invert bookmarks->delete bookmarks will give the
same result without the use of the clipboard.

Decreasing its size will decrease the line >spacing.

Hmm, I am NOT using a highlight schema. I am using the "Feault Style" for a
simple *.txt file.

So there are no different font embedded/used. Only one!
See this snapshot:

http://www.picamatic.com/show/2009/06/01/01/30/3848376_1093x724.png

So the "tallest" font as the only font used.
So again: how can I decrease the line spacing?

Thomas

Could you upload the file somewhere, since posting it would result in a very
long post?

Alternatively, make a copy of the file, and try removing stuff incrementally
from the original, like some keyword categories, some operators, fold
keywords...
Be sure to cut both in the language and stylers sections. With luck, you either
* get it to work at some point; then review the last thing you removed, or post
about it
* or get a file that still doesn't work, but is short enough to be posted.

Did you first of all try to run your file through an XML validator to see if
it doesn't catch something silly?

This page you refer to is outdated,
try http://apps.sourceforge.net/mediawiki/notepad-plus/index.php?title=Configura

Go to Preferences -> Settings -> MISC, there is a Highligh matching tags frame
there. You can
* enable/disable the whole thing
* if enabled, selectively enable tag or content highlighting.

The colors can be set in Preferences -> Styler Configurator, HTML or XML,
style=TAG/TAGEND/ATTRIBUTE/TAGUNKNOWN/ATRIBUTEUNKNOWN

In other words, you have total control.
