I work with files of about 100 Meg. Np++ open it in about a second (very good speed), then I do a find all ^(\*)[\*A-z], basically look for lines that start with *. In a 1.5 million lines file, Np++ takes probably a second to find about 250 lines; which is excellent. The problem is when I want to navigate the file using the found lines. The first time that I click in a found line, it takes about 20 to 30 seconds to move the cursor to that line. After the first line is found, to find the next lines takes only one to two seconds (which is acceptable). To get around the problem, instead of clicking on the found window, I tried the search/go to.. fucntion (since the line numbers are listed on the find window). It takes the same 30 seconds. I noticed that 5.31 is a little faster than 5.4.1. Also, in 5.4.1 if you click again on the find window Np++ crashes. With files of ~15 Meg or so, the problem is not obvious. Thansk for a good software. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. For example, line.margin.width=1+ 2) add a new line at document end when you save it if there's not: ensure.final.line.end=1 3) visualize wrap simbol at begin of wrapped line instead of at end, or both. For example, wrap.visual.flags=3 4) set indentation size for continued wrapped lines. For example, wrap.visual.startindent=2 If you can't set them already in hidden options, I propose to introduce them. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Working with tab is so slow compared to everything in new window (if you are working with differents applications at the same time) ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. I am considering my options in this regard and printing to a PDF is one viable route. I also thought that it might be nice to be able to export the text with the applied formatting - colours etc - to the program (inDesign) as text that has styles applied to it. This way I could further manipulate the styling of the code across the entire document and have it better conform with my layout. Is there any way to do this currently? thanks in advance for the help ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Is it possible to keep the original file type names, but still open them in notepad++? E.g., perl scripts are originally grouped as "*.pl" files, but when I tell windows to open them in notepad++, they are then grouped together with "*.txt" files as generic "Notepad++" files? I prefer the original setup for sorting/grouping data/scripts. This is in XP. Thanks, Eric ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Specifically, I like how emacs indents up to the nearest open parentheses or brace. For example, if I'm defining a function in C++, and I want each argument on a separate line, emacs indents each parameter up to the open parentheses that holds all the arguments. int my_function( double num1, double num2, double num3 ) In emacs, "double num2" and "double num3" would be indented when I hit the tab key to line up with "double num1". This works with any level of parentheses and braces. For example, if I'm assigning an object that has other objects as parameters, this still works. Rect my_rectangle = Rect( Point( x1, y1 ), Point ( x2, y2 ) ); For this, y1 would be indented to line up with x1, and the second Point object would line up with the first Point object, and then y2 would line up with x2. I realize it is silly to make new lines for x1 and x2, but those values could be coming from other objects with lengthy member functions or from other functions such that it is necessary to use new lines. By the way, it sure would be nice if there was preview post functionality in this forum and a way to post stuff in code format with equal width characters. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Then after reading the Wiki I saw the note about the "doLocalConf.xml" file. After I created it in the Notepad++ directory, the Crystal theme now works. On a related note, some of your screenshots show a white background behind the icons instead of the gray. Can you tell me how to change this? Running XP SP2. I intent to compile a program written in assembly language using MASM6.15 but in order to call the compiler I need to pass it the full path of the source file without it's extension. I was wondering if there's a way to get the environment variables to give me a path like that. (say if I have a program.asm file inside a C:\asmPrograms and want the path C:\asmPrograms\program) I've already tried this C:\Masm615 make16.bat "$(CURRENT_DIRECTORY)" "$(NAME_PART)" and C:\Masm615 make16.bat "$(CURRENT_DIRECTORY)""$(NAME_PART)" and C:\Masm615 make16.bat "$(CURRENT_DIRECTORY)"\"$(NAME_PART)" and C:\Masm615 make16.bat "$(CURRENT_DIRECTORY,NAME_PART)" but there's no use. Any hint will be appreciated. Thanks in advanced. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Thanks anyway. C:\Masm615 make16.bat $(CURRENT_DIRECTORY)\$(NAME_PART) It wasn't that hard. =-D ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum.
