Sorry for not following this too closely and only doing a quick search. But
does Np++ support/have the ability to record and use code snippets?
There used to be a plugin called QuickText. Has this been replaced/updated?

The above described bug (syntax highlight) also affects latest version (5.4.3).

I am using windows 2000 ... when I installed the latest version of notepad++
I lost the toolbar. Reinstalling does not fix the problem. Any ideas?
Also, is there a way to search this forum? The search box at the top searches
all of sourceforge.
Thanks,
Cliff

Have been using Notepad++ for about 6 months, but lately it has started running
away with the cpu, pegging it at 100%. It usually happens when it is minimized
in the background.
I am using the spell check, and explorer plugins with it.
Any ideas on how to prevent this?

The old Wikispaces page on HTML Tidy mentions the following link for getting
a decent script to run:
https://lists.adullact.net/pipermail/atelier-dev-commits/2007-January/003353.htm
l|
The link appears to be broken. Does anyone know of an equivalent, available
resource?

Did you try starting NP++ with the -noPlugin command line switch? If the problem
persists, it is a Notepad++ issue. Otherwise, one of your plugin may be the
culprit, try adding them back one after the other so as to spot where trouble
starts.

There is still a plugin called QuickText, search for it either here or in Help
forum around Dec 2008. The thread resurfaced in may 2009 I believe. There is
one XP unicode version and one Vista unicode version.

This is a bug in Scintilla's LexXML lexer, where, on an unknown tag, the parser
does not attempt to detect the end of the tag. You see this on trying to fold
at the 1st <commandset> tagg.
If only user extensions could be added for tags, like for keywords in most
built-in
languages...

I had already reported on the bug tracker that the number of selected characters
is wrong for rectangular selections.
I found out worse:
1/ open some ANSI file
2/ write accented letters. I used ???. They take 2 chars in borh UCS-2 and
UTF-8 encoding modes
3/ Change file encoding
4/ The number of characters selected, when selecting those three characters,
is 6, not 3. It doesn't matter whether the selection is stream or rectangular.
Notepad++ should not trust Scintilla's getSelectedByteNumber() except for ANSI
encoded files or UCS2 files (in the latter case, needs to divide by 2), and
perform an adequate calculation depending on the encoding of the file. This
will imply counting code points in UTF-8 <shudder/>.
