Hello,

I have never had this problem with notepad++ before, but about 5-6 times a day
notepad++ is crashing. When it crashes I lose work if I haven't saved, and the
memory of the tabs of files I have open is lost, and it reverts back to the
memory of what I had open previously.

Just thinking aloud. Perhaps the easiest way is to not use the installer, and
instead extract from a .7z archive. Any script can probably drive 7zFM.exe thru
command line. It will be probably simpler to extract all config files in
Notepad++.exe's folder.
The only trick left to perform is to register the shel extension. This is a
plain call to regsvr32.exe.

It now depends on which script language you are able to run on your new machine.
See the 7zip documentation for the command line switches of the file manager.
The script could even go to Internet to download extra plugins, or perform other
customisation tasks. Again, this depends on the requirements and resources you
have.

By the way, I just updated the plugin's core to the one used
by NppExecPluginMsgTester ver. 0.3.1. Currently there are no other modifications
yet.

It had (long ago I think) be found to interfere with non latin character typing.
I think extensive testing on a variety of OS / locale pairs is required in order
to include it back.
Well, I am not sure what the policy for inclusion is. There might be none.
Don?

I use HLM (Hard Link Magic). It is a free, rusty, russian, NT-style add-on that
works just great under XP. I have no idea whether it is still available.

v5.4.4 doesn't search case insensitive anymore in cyrillic text. It's would
be great if correct it.

Still not working for me....I have the empty doLocalConf.xml file in C:\Program
Files\Notepad++ and the toolbarIcons.xml in the %APPDATA%\Notepad++ folder.
Any other suggestions? My icon files are located in %APPDATA%\Notepad++\icons

I was trying to edit Apache config files on my hard drive last night. I opened
them, edited them in Notepad++, and Apache's behavior didn't change. I tried
this several times. Later I did a save as to a new file name, and was surprised
that the file didn't appear in the filesystem. I could however still open,
close and edit it in Notepad++.

Later I opened one of the files I'd been working on in Notepad and saw that
none of my changes had happened, and was able to edit them (after opening
Notepad
as administrator).

So a) Where are the edited versions of the files that I was working on in
Notepad++
being stored? Because it wasn't in the directory they claimed to be in. And
it wasn't anywhere search found on the desktop.

b) Why did this happen? Was this a response to Notepad++ not having the
security
privileges to edit those files, so upon an error it directed the save to another
location or some kind of cache?

I'm really mystified by what I saw last night.
