Find all after checking Mark lines, and then Copy bookmarked lines, paste
somewhere
for further processing. Or use the various Find all in ... commands, and then
copy/paste the text in the result window.
Ah, and TextFX Viz -> Hide lines without (Clipboard), Select All, then Copy
visible selcetion.
Or is this something else yet?
CChris

Thanks again for the help. I wanted to point that due to a minor typo, the
link posted above:
http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/notepad-plus/index.php?title=Confiuration_Files
is not directing to a wiki with content in it. I'm glad though, because it
forced me to look through the (pretty comprehensive) Wiki, which I had not been
aware of. For anyone else interested in this, I found the following links after
looking around a little:
http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/notepad-plus/index.php?title=Configuration
_Files (Originally intended link)
http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/notepad-plus/index.php?title=Editing_Confi
guration_Files (Additional info)

Off topic, but related to the above posts: Is there a setting in the
SourceForge
Forum that is causing posts to be displayed out of order within the discussion?
>From my perspective, my post from 2009-07-17 09:52 is being displayed above
CChris's post from 2009-07-17 05:49. (?) This seems to be pretty odd behavior;
are others experiencing this as as well? Thanks.

May I know who removed my message "Post header Background image misplaced"
posted
2009-07-17 09:00 GMT, and why? Is there really someone who found it less
accurate
or precise or concise or clear or friendly or polite or pleasant or useful or
anything else, than any other post? If not, could someone explain the reason?
and why and how this should this help the Notepad++ program or community?

For me, it's off topic.
You may post it as a new thread.

michelmerlin,
Thank you for your input.
Some of us do care about the quality and polish of the code.
The grammatical inconsistencies you've noted are indeed annoying and
inconsistent
(color being US and colour being Canada & UK).
I'll try to do a text sanitation pass before the next major release. However,
I don't have the last word on what goes in the official repo or not, so I can't
guarantee it will make it to the release..
As for the selection highlight problem, I haven't really looked at it, but my
feeling leads me to believe that it could probably be a Scintilla issue more
than a N++ issue. If you have time, could you check if that behavior is present
in SciTE? If it is, then the Scintilla project should be notified. If not, well,
this should be our to look at.
thanks,
joce.

CChris:
a "bug"? I don't think so. It's an easy way to "touch" your files.
- This behaviour is present in at least VS 2005 and 2008.
- The venerable Notepad behaves like that.
- gVim
- Notepad2
The only two text editors I found that do not exhibit this behaviour are emacs
(but it tells you that the file wasn't saved because it didn't change) and SciTE
(but the Save menu item is disabled if you can't save).
I think it's quite a valid point, and should at the very least be subject to
a user setting, with the default behaviour being to save anyway.
joce.

BTW, Notepad++ writes sometimes "colour", sometimes "color". This denotes a
lacking sense of clarity, exactitude, reliability, friendliness, mind openness,
care to others - that resurfaces in plenty areas of the program (accordingly
severely reducing the program's reliability) and of the discussions on this
forum, where people are too often nitpicking instead of straightforwardly
correcting
and immediately and kindly thanking for the report or suggestion. No surprise
when seeing this good program so badly hampered by a series of bugs or lacks
that never get done after months or years of polite reports or requests from
users.
<< "
Wow! Everything is so clear to you. If you notice one little inconsistency,
you immediately what psychological disorders people that did work on a program
suffer from. Everything is caused by a huge number of problems and causes or
will result in big trouble and almost makes Notepad++ unusable. Well, that
indeed
is pretty much what you think, if I read all your useless posts. You can't seem
te be satisfied by simply reporting a problem, no you make a big problem of
it, so there SHOULD be something done about it, and IMMEDIATELY.
You know, it's a BIG SURPRISE to me that you are still using Notepad++ and
posting
on these forums. Why are you so insistent if you know it won't matter at all,
because nothing will be done about it actually?
Well, there is one way you could get things to be done: start working on and
coding for Notepad++ yourself. Did you consider this? Or are you only
complaining
and waiting for others to things that you find so important?
I think the best you could do is start using an other editor. I haven't much
users complain in the way you do and also showing no effort at all to do
something
about problems themselves.

Consistency is one thing, preferences are another.
Of course, if the Save button is disabled and Ctrl+S doesn't work, the menu
item Save should also be disabled. That's one thing to be corrected as far as
I understand.
The other thing is _whether_ the Save functionality should be disabled or not
when there are no changes to save. Some say saving should always be able to
be performed, no matter what. But if you accept a warning to be shown in cases
there is nothing new to save, aren't you saying that it should not _always_
be performed? So at least you are accepting there are other possibilities. I
guess a preference would be a good thing.
Of course, there could also be an option to simply (only) just touch the file,
if that is what you _really_ want, although I still can't see why that would
be so important. This could be one of the alternatives for the action to be
executed when Save is clicked, or simply just another menu item or button.
But I still do not see the use of "touching" a file. It's something that will
only make my automatic back-up utility create yet another useless back-up. Now
this utility makes it somewhat possible to reduce the numbers of back-ups made,
but this I consider more to be "corrective" behavior than a standard. And a
touched file by itself might just make you think the last saved status contains
"new" information while in fact you can't tell how actual it really is. I prefer
to know when something was changed, not when it is only still valid.
