I'm pretty sure it's due to the bad connection or leak of resource of PC where
your remote file is located.

I'll see if I can do something for it

Is there any plugin or short-cut to open highlighted text as file.

e.g. include (config.php);

now I like to open the config.php .. maybe by mark it and klick ctrl+o or
something
.. with the same directory like the current file .. so also "include
(lib/db.php)"
should work.

Thx for your hints

Tyll

If I have a binary file (there are some special characters shown, like NUL),
and select all. When I paste it to another file, the pasted text is only the
beginning of the file, until the special signs.

I warmly support TyllLeyden's suggestion, with a (small) precision: "to open
highlighted text as file" should open the very file stated by the highlighted
text, including translating the "/" (root) or ".." (parent) or other indication
in the file addresses relative to the calling file. If writing this takes time,
then DO NOT implement it partially meantime: this would be useless and
misleading.

Use the HexEditor plugin to perform the pasting in binary mode.

Hi,

I use NPP to modify my VHDL files and I must say that the editor is very good.
I want to explain my thoughts about a bug with codes. I think this is a bug
but someone can think it as a feature, whatever. This request is about the fold
option while editing VHDL.

If I want to instantiate an entity in another VHDL file I can use different
styles. The usual one
U0 : <something> port map
works fine with fold option, that is when I instantiate <something> the fold
option (the '+' sign in that line) works fine. However with this instantiation
I must include the component declaration in the VHDL file too.

Another instantiation option is like:
U0 : entity work.something port map...
or
U0 : entity something port map ...

In this example when I click to the fold button (the '+' sign near U0) all of
the code is folded until the editor sees an 'end' token. This instantiation
is better than the other because in that case I do not have to include the
component
declaration in the file. But this time fold option does not work.

I hope I could make my point. I want to clarify the situation if there are
missing
points.

Thanks,

Enes.

Christian,
thanks for your comment, I see what you mean considering that in serious
projects
function definitions and usage rarely resides in the same files, but the
metaphor
works not only for (some of ) programming languages, but for general texts too.
You read text, you see Alice, you think "Who is Alice? She was probably was
introduced before..." (before=up) and press (Ctrl-Alt)-Up. Once again, you think
"Will Alice be mentioned after?" (after = down), you press (Ctrl-Alt)-Down.
And moreover, it works like fast navigation, because once you discovered Alice
two clicks away you will return to the initial place just by pressing the
reverse
shortcut the same amount of times (imagine, your left hand still lays on
CTRL-ALT,
and you only have to move your middle finger a little from UP to DOWN).

I know that it is possible to get used to current shortcuts, but they just dont'
reflect this "before-after" relation that helps a lot in daily usage. Once
again,
this "temporarily jump to another place where this word appeared and return"
scenario is not so "natural" to use with the current shortcuts.

And once again, I'm completely content with the fact that npp allows me to
change
everything, just looking for a way to share my experience )

I would like to suggest the inclusion of selection of text and dragging to the
top or bottom of the text screen initiates scrolling of the page in that
direction

1/ Create a new file in ANSI format with 3 é, or ?'s. HexEditor shows
the file to contain 0xE9 0xE9 0xE9. So far so good.
2/ Format-> Convert to UTF-8 without BOM. Now the binary contents are 0xC3 0xA9
0xC3 0xA9 0xC3 0xA9. Ok, but cursor is at column 2 instead of column 3. Ok,
it is still at position 3, but this is a little surprising.
3/ Now Format -> Convert to ANSI. You would expect the file contents to revert
to 0xE9 0xE9 0xE9. They don't change.

Am I missing anything obvious? If not, this looks like a serious flaw. By the
way, the three é remain properly displayed at all times.

CChris
PS: Don: this is why /ru and /bg were not updated....
