I like this approach. However, I think there may still be cases where we'd want
to support injecting an iterator into the per-table configured iterator
priority stack. I don't know of any particular use cases, but I wouldn't want
to remove functionality.
So, I suggest deprecating the "addScanIterator" method, and replace it with
"insertScanIterator(priority, ...)", and "appendScanIterator(...)"
