Our public api declaration is pretty specific about where people can rely on
things not changing.
FWIW, There is work to get wikisearch under 1.4 working on hadoop 2. A quick
glance at the current contrib repo looks like it's find for Hadoop 2. It seems
silly to backport those changes, particularly if the contrib repo works with a
1.4 cluster (which is the ask from Keith that I mentioned needing to answer).
