Josh Elser commented on ACCUMULO-4620:
--------------------------------------

bq. I haven't heard any actual reasons why this change will be disruptive.

It is disruptive because it will cause the active developers to change how they
access the filesystem. It's yet another thing to keep in mind as I'm doing
command-line operations in Accumulo (based on the branch).

My objection does not extend farther than I do not think it is confusing to
have many modules, nor do I find the existing server directory confusing. I
just disagree with the justifications/reasons for moving the modules in the
first place. Anyways, I don't care to participate in argument/discussion about
a directory -- my "-0" is all I really care to give. If others feel strongly
that this should be done, you have the ability to proceed (my -0 is not a -1).

> Currently, Accumulo has most of its Maven modules residing in the root
> directory and some modules in a {{server}} directory. It would be great if
> all Accumulo modules were consolidate into a {{modules}} directory to put
> every module in one directory and reduce the number of directories in the
> root project directory. To simplify merges in the future, this should also be
> done for {{1.8}} and {{1.7}} branches in addition to {{master}}.
