Review Comment:
From what I can tell:
* Setting `dfs.datanode.synconclose` to true will cause each replicated
block to be synced to disk when it's closed.
* Calling `hysnc` will cause the current replicated block to be synced to
disk when it's called.
* Erasure Coded files do not support `hflush` or `hsync` - see
[this](https://hadoop.apache.org/docs/stable/hadoop-project-dist/hadoop-hdfs/HDFSErasureCoding.html#Limitations)
