As such, trying out the nightly build or the release candidates which are available for at least 3 days before a release, like this announcement during Ant 1.10.14 release https://lists.apache.org/thread/tk9p8khzrh4oh4b6vfov2br366jn6y5m helps prevent issues like these. In this issue, I was hoping you would try out the nightly build to verify the fix indeed solves the issue. But I haven't heard back about it, so I don't know if you got a chance to try it out. So even if we did do a release we wouldn't know if it fixes this issue (and/or introduces any other issues). Our Ant testsuite covers a lot of use cases to test for regressions, but it will never be enough.
