1. The same error occurs mid-document, even if the top-level is an object. For
this reason your testing is flawed and your comments are invalid.
2. The error message does not cite a CouchDB specification, which is clearly a
subset of JSON, and not the actual JSON spec. If Couch has no intention of
supporting the complete JSON spec, and claims only to require JSON, then that
is also a bug.
