Not sure I would be in favor of adding such an appender. The log4j 1.x project
became very difficult to maintain at some point, in large extent because of the
complexities associated with setting up the environment to build the native
code appender(s). At least that’s my understanding.
I could see this in log4j 3, in a separate repo, dedicated to Windows
components.
