Ralph Goers commented on LOG4NET-657:
-------------------------------------

Over time the maintainers of Log4Net gradually moved on and the project was
left with no one to maintain it so the Logging PMC moved it to dormant status.
However, that prompted some people to step forward who have since created a few
new releases. So the project is no longer dormant.

> Hi,
> I am finding different information on log4net dormancy status.
> There is commit with decision from April 1. (bad day to make decisions btw)
> that log4net *is* dormant, as you can se here:
>
> [https://github.com/apache/logging-log4net/commit/e059db7bb8afce6a0e7e808dd4910b4bfe1b8fe9?branch=e059db7bb8afce6a0e7e808dd4910b4bfe1b8fe9&diff=split]
> But when you visit ApacheLogging dormant projects URL, it *is not* on
> dormant list:
> [https://logging.apache.org/dormant.html]
> However if you open STATUS.txt on github it says *it is* dormant.
> But README.md file on git *does not* say project is dormant and git is
> fairly active so it does not seem dormant.
> But there are also no verified release tags on git, last one being 2.0.8.
> But on apache website there are some release notes with no dates:
>
> Hope someone can clarify this in detail and define status as it is quite
> important for PCI reviews.
