Maybe something in there was causing a memory runaway. anything unusual about those folders? e.g huge generated files or something like that? I was about to suggest to bump the memory limit of your NetBeans instance a bit by adding `-J-Xmx8G` to your `etc/netbeans.conf` (as an experiment) but you already got rid of the folders. To be clear your instance sets the limit to 4GB which should be sufficient for most use cases. If this is an actual bug this would also occur with a 8GB limit, just a bit later.
