Thanks @neilcsmith-net I missed that the view is actually fluid, which is actually also useful as the dash can be kept visible as a narrow side pane: <img width="1032" alt="side-dash" src="https://github.com/apache/netbeans/assets/2463597/eab76593-6dba-42b5-9fee-4b1d27debafd";> Regarding the "header" layout, what about a little trick, with an additional row to hold separate dashboard items?
