If that's what you want, why not https://docs.oracle.com/javase/8/docs/api/java/lang/UnsupportedOperationException.html ? I would still argue that the new delete functions can call the existing (probably to be deprecated) delete functions - by default. We only have 4 implementations so it shouldn't take us long to override the default implementation with the correct implementations.
