#927 adds request compression as a client setting (`GrpcClientSettings.withCompression`). There's no way to compress just one call, the way the per-call deadline works (#922). Proposal: add `setCompression` to the scaladsl and javadsl `SingleResponseRequestBuilder` and `StreamResponseRequestBuilder`. It would replace the client's compression setting for that call, on both backends: - Netty: `CallOptions.withCompression`. - pekko-http: a request writer for the chosen codec.
