Thanks for raising this. One question: was the explicit BUILDPLATFORM usage added to support multi-arch CI builds, or is it mainly historical? I’m asking because removing it might simplify Podman builds, but could also affect cross-platform CI expectations. Happy to test a Podman build locally if maintainers think this change is acceptable.
