Really nice proposal! I like how clearly you laid out the difference between Drill By and this guided drill-down — the table makes it easy to see why both are useful for different audiences. Reusing the existing dimension selector for authoring is a smart touch, and it's great that the drill state doesn't mess with saved charts.
