"All the while I kept thinking, "Thank God he didn't stoop that low to spend
a week on this dumb show"!!!!!"

But here's the thing: he *DID* stoop low enough to perform on their final
show. You may want to argue that he did it on "his" terms, but let us all
be honest and say that had he NOT performed, no one would have been the
wiser, the people watching the show would not have felt deprived, etc. They
were watching the show to see who was going to be the next AI, not to see
Prince. That he showed up was cool, but his performance was FAR from
mindblowing (not like SNL which blew the roof off).

I'm not a fan of the manufactured music stars either, but you can't have
your cake and eat it too, and that's what Prince attempted to do by
performing on the show. He could have gone on there and REALLY showed what
artistry is about, but he didn't. His appearance was half hearted at best,
and that's sad.
