Thanks for the help with directions and all. Went to the show this past
Saturday. Thankfully, it was a beautiful day for a walk. The gallery was
quaint, and much smaller than I imagined. The whole Chelsea Terminal Warehouse
(where the gallery is housed) was strangely interesting too.

The few pics
we've seen posted around were blown up VERY large. I'm talking so large you
could see the pores in his skin. There were also several sets of proofs blown
up as "pictures". You could tell the negatives had been laying around in some
drawer or something for a long time; they appeared to be in bad shape. One set
was particularly "Coco from Fame," if you get my drift: No shirt, uneasy
poses, uncomfortable.

That being said, the pictures in the proofs were far
more interesting and yes I'll say it, beautiful, than any of the pics that
were chosen for enlargement. It was cool to see that even "back in the day"
you could see the same smiles and other expressions that we still see today.
(Tho the smiles are rare now.)

There was nothing to buy really, except if
you wanted to spend $8000 for three of the blow up pictures. Nope. As my
partner said, if she was going to pay $8000 for pictures of Prince it wouldn't
be of larger-than-life shots of his adolescent acne.

I can only hope the
photography gets desperate for funds and one day makes a poster/print of those
proofsheets. I'd pay a fair amount for those.
