Subject: [taandd-l] Announcement from OSEP-

The National Dropout Prevention Center for Students with Disabilities
(NDPC-SD)

The Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) officially announced on
Monday, September 22, 2008, that the National Dropout Prevention Center
for Students with Disabilities (NDPC-SD) [CFDA 84.326W] was awarded to
Clemson University, South Carolina. The grant period for this project
will begin January 1, 2009 and end December 31, 2013.
This project, under the directorship of Dr. Loujeania Bost and Dr. Jay
Smink, will support the efforts of OSEP to: assist State Education
Agencies (SEAs) and Local Education Agencies (LEAs) in implementing and
evaluating effective, comprehensive dropout prevention, reentry and
school completion models and practices for students with disabilities.
The goal of this work is to partner with, and provide technical
assistance to States as they continue to develop their capacity to (a)
collect and improve data collection systems to track at risk-students;
(b) design training activities for policy makers, administrators, and
practitioners on dropout prevention, reentry and school completion
strategies; and (c) meet their performance targets, as reported in their
SPPs/APRs, for Part B Indicators 1 and 2 (Graduation and Dropout).
The NDPC-SD will also help States build and implement sustainable
programs and best practices that will yield positive results in dropout
prevention, reentry and school completion for students with
disabilities.

This center will be managed by Selete Avoke. For further information,
