Before anyone gets the idea that I'm giving away chanters (I'll do a
lot for the pipes, but that's going a bit far) <v. big grin>, the one
John refers to was in very battered condition, barely playable, and
was given to the NPS as part of a large batch of half completed pipes
by a retiring amateur maker.
The society has got 5 playing fully mounted keyed hire sets out of
this collection, and the plain chanter very nearly became firewood,
as part of the 'spares'.

I offered John a new, playing one in blackwood and brass in response
to his request on this list (still available for sale if anyone
wants to experiment with the keyless repertoire!), but it became
apparent he really wanted a gash one to mess on with. The battered
one he says is ideal, so for the cost of carriage and a small
donation.....

I'm up for a Peacock group or intermittent session (when are you next
in the NE, Paul?) - which should surprise no-one, but the secretary
part of me reacts against calling it a society. Shades of splinter
groups and past history.....don't get me started, as one NPS member
responded when faced with the 'Room 101 tune ' section of the recent
membership survey.

Cheers
Julia
