Hello All I used to buy 'wax twins' from Le Prevo leather in Newcastle for stitching hide bags. It seems they are now out of stock and can't get any for the moment....
Does anybody out there know where I may be able to come by some more? I have made a few bags since that I stitched with artificial sinew and although airtight, are not as easy to sew or as pleasing as previous creations. Any help would be very appreciated! Richard's suggestion . . . spreading the finger-hole positions and widening the bore . . would certainly result in a chanter that is more comfortable to play when conventional positions feel cramped. I believe this was the approach adopted by Andy and Stan May in their G chanter design, with brilliantly successful results. A wider bore will also produce a more powerful tone, wonderful from the hands of Andy, but perhaps less welcome from a beginner looking for 'social playing with other pipers', the situation which Helen's enquiry was originally about.
