MIKE MACDOUGALL'S TAPE FOR FATHER HECTOR is now OP, but perhaps if
enough people request it Paul Cranford will reissue it.
www.cranfordpub.com I wore my copy out, then ordered another one. It
is an amazing one off. The story is that Mike was a fisherman who
knew very little about recording machines. Father Hector set up his
reel to reel so that all Mike had to do was press a button and start
playing. Father Hector put the machine on a bus to be delivered to
Mike. Mike took it home, pushed the button and started to play. When
he was done he turned it off and put it back on the bus to be
delivered to Father Hector. At the end Mike says, "This is, I think,
the best tape I will make while I live." Mike must be making new
recordings in heaven. If folks are desperate for it, we could ask
Paul if he would let me make copies of the CD I burned from the tape
in exchange for people sending him the price of the tape.

NSP seem made for playing strathspeys, and some Cape Breton fiddlers
accent 2/4 marches very close to strathspeys rhythms. I know
anti-Scottish sentiments run fairly strong among NSPipers, but it's
worth pointing out.

all the best,

John
