But you may get fun and games when all those tubular thingies show up on the
X-ray!

Subject: [NSP] Re: Travel bag for pipes

Hi Paul,

I was one of four people who flew Ryanair from Stansted to go piping in Italy
in 2008. Knowing that my bag would be under my direct supervision, I carried
my pipes in an ordinary soft holdall that complied with Ryanair's 'carry on'
luggage dimensions.

The chanter and drones both were well protected inside separate PVC tubes (in
my case, 38mm internal diameter plumbing waste pipe, which actually slides
neatly over the stocks) which I wrapped together for added strength. The pipes
then fitted diagonally into the hold-all and I packed my soft kit around them.

This allowed me to carry my pipes and what I need for a short stay all together
in a single piece of cabin baggage. It worked.

Richard
