While testing I realized some files above the size limit were backed up, others weren't. This seems to have to do with special characters: To files inside a directory named 'documents', the size limit was applied correctly. To files inside a directory named 'döcuments', it wasn't. All files from that directory were backed up no matter what size. So I guess the special character keeps nssbackup from correctly checking file sizes.
