I know you probably don't think so Steve, but even I am more optimistic
about the future, even with McCarthy at the helm.

It is quite possible that the next level of spending is about to be
unleashed to.

Interesting idea. A couple of loan or bosman signings might be the way
to go now to give us that kick start to another level without big
capital outlay. We should be able to get some better players than
Mancienne in on loan. Lescott from City? Most other clubs do it.
We've tended to get the young and hungry players from the fringes rather
than those that are towards the end of their career and that might be
time to change now.

I still can hardly believe we stayed up. It looked bleak for much of
last season.

Watching him on Sunday for United highlighted how good a player he still
is - movement, pace, dragging defenders all over the place.

Agreed. We just need some quality now. I don't mean a Rory Delap
type player, where our whole game revolves around lonmg throw ins, or
balls..I mean some real creativity along with decisive defending.

We were playing some old Wolves DVDs on the weekend, and on one
was a match from the Championship against Watford pre-MM. It was
sobering to be reminded how bad wee were back then compared to now, and
far MM has really bought us.

The need for tough tackling midfielders ? For creative
midfielders ? For goal scorers ? For a manager capable of getting us
into the PL / And for keeping us there ? MM got us there, and has kept
us there 2 seasons running, on a shoestring budget.

Remember all the fans constantly moaning there wasnt enough
commitment, passion and desire to win ? 'Wasters' ? MM clearly has
turned that one around and deserves full credit for it.

I know it seems that I am stubbornly in favour of Mick and won't
listen to anything said against him. I have been trying to put myself
in the "other camp" for the last few days but I keep coming back to
these points:

        * He is the best manager we've had for some time, at least
in terms of the success he's brought the club.
        * With the side we have I think he's about on par. Could
another manager punch further above our current weight? Possibly, but I
think it's unsustainable in the long term. Roy will be an intersting
one to watch next season.
        * We still have a side that is 50% the same as the one
that won the championship. It's hard to argue that the team should be
doing better on those grounds
        * I also think Mick gets more out of the team than they
actually have in terms of quality. The team seem to like him very much.

        * We've beaten some very good teams. The number we have
beaten makes it very hard to put down to fluke. I think we have looked
really good at times.
        * Despite appearing to make bad decisions in selection, I
have to assume that he knows more about it than anyone else.

This next season is probably do or die though. I assume that
we'll buy O'Hara plus a couple of other players, such as a left back and
a central defender. That will remove some more of the championship
team. It wil still be a low wage side though

Lee do you fancy a bet on the position of Wolves and Albion next
season? Same consequences as my bet with Marcus this season. I bet
that Wolves will finish above Albion.

isn't. We could get a much better manager, of that there is no doubt but
none as likeable or as passionate as Mick.

Our near neighbours stole the march on us...Woy as weally weally
done well, and they will consolidate now.

Wolves won't hire Hughton because he is black.

If we were to change manager I'd hope for someone with Premier
League experience. O'Neill, and Sam are the only two that are currently
out of work but I think it's unlikely we'd get either of them. They
both rely on having money to spend too. In fact the pool of managers
that have done well in the Premiership with little money is very small.

We could always follow the Wolves tradition of having ex-England
mangers...You know who I mean.

It's purely for fun anyway. I can't see Morgan sacking Mick.
We were in the bottom three most of the season and he didn't get rid.

It's funny how football management is a job that everyone thinks
is easy and that they could do. It's not the same with anyone else's
job is it?

Mick is a good Manager, the best the Wolves have had since John
Barnwell.

Is he the best man to take us to the next level? I hope so but
personally do not think he is up to it. This season he has at times made
some fundamental mistakes, weird team selections and substitutions in my
opinion. His faith in Henry is blinkered and the most obvious
fundamental mistake for me, no disrespect to him but he should not be
playing Central Midfield for a Premier league team! Don't like to keep
on harping about Left back but we do not have one and it has cost us
dear this season. When Van Damme left we should have had someone lined
up to replace him during the January transfer window, obvious to
everyone except MM. Baffling decision and it nearly cost us dear,
Elokobi has given away countless goals through poor defending this
second half of the season and cost us points.

Sorry Steve, he is a very decent chap and I have been a big
supporter of his in the past but he lost me early in the New Year. Time
for a change, there is a better alternative available. Martin O'Neill
would be my choice followed by Chris Houghton. Also, why not try and
poach Phelan from Manure, worth a call?

All this is hypothetical though Steve, MM is going nowhere until
Xmas at the earliest.

Only seven more points needed. Cut out some silly late points
lost and we'd be there. WBA away for example.
