I helped carry the Doog shoulder high around the South Bank that first game
after being saved. A rare happy day, then it all turned to ****!

Pretty much sums up following the Wolves these last 30 years. I'm with Jim
and Mark, once hooked there is no escape, no matter how much suffering they
put you through. Those rare happy days keep the faith burning.

I have often wondered how my life would have changed if, on that fateful
Wednesday night in 1966, my Dad had taken me to Old Trafford instead of
Molineux. It's rather like dreaming of winning lotto: a few minutes of
fantasy and then back to reality. Nevertheless, it was Molineux that night
and I was immediately under the Wolves spell. I really don't know how anyone
can stop supporting them. Remember those few minutes back in 80's when we
almost went bust, and the Doog came through at the last minute to save us
(albeit temporarily). I was on the 'phone to England where dad had the
receiver against the radio with live coverage of events. The sheer joy of
being saved. I still think of that moment when things look bleak. Prefer to
support a Wolves side wherever they may be, and long as they are there.
We will have our time in the sun again sometime.

Yes Richard, thats right, theres no way out. Supporting Wolves is a life
long suffering there is no escape from. You can change your room, but you
can't checkout.

You can run, but you can't hide. You think you're free, but sooner or later
you'll walk around the corner and see another loser in a Old Gold and Black
shirt, and you'll start wondering again... I wonder where they are in the
league now? (should be IF they are still in the league) They must be doing
better by now ? (no, they wont be) I wonder if they've found another Steve
Bull ? (no, theres more chance of him making a comeback) Have they still got
that Mick McCarthy as manager ? (yes, they probably will) Have they bought
any decent players yet (no, they wont have)

We must all be paying a penance for a high price for being horrible people
in previous incarnations. But we have probably chosen to be Wolves fans as I
hear the more suffering you choose in each life, the greater growth you can
achieve. So when we get to the pearly gates, we'll all be in for a BIG
heavenly payout that will make 500 virgins seem like childs play.

I'm sure Steve will take you off the list. But what will you tell God when
he meets you and he asks why you walked out on your chosen suffering ? Out
of Darkness remember... ;-)
