Depends. You can do a couple of different things. First of all, assuming
the 2 NIC's will support teaming, you aren't going to be able to get 200MB
both ways. That is called Cisco FastEtherchannel, and IIRC, is only
available if you are using a Cisco switch. However, you can set up load
balancing, which will, I believe, let you send using both (200mb), but will
only receive using one. Something about the MAC address, can't remember
exactly. If your Netgear will support full duplex (which any switch should,
really), then you should be set there. Just check and make sure that the
NIC's support teaming before you buy them. If the salesperson doesn't know,
don't get them. I run Intel NIC's on my Dell servers (Intel 8255x-based if
I remember right). The Dell supplied drivers support teaming. Same thing
with my Compaq servers. It's all in the software. Hope that helps.

The NICs have not been bought yet-the server's not a particular brand...I'd
hate to call it a clone, since it's not a mom and pop..but anyways the
switch is a netgear switch.

Will the switch make a difference? Or can I just get the LAN combo with the
teaming software and get it to work? Or must the routers/switches get
involved?
