I'll venture a guess that for multitasking the P3-dual 1000 will work
better. For raw speed of one app the P4 1.8 might be better.

If you are building your own PC take a look at the IWIL DVD-266r
motherboard. It will support 2 P1000 socket 370. It allows for over
clocking if you are into that. It also supports DDR memory.

Subject: CPU recommandation

Hi all,

I need you advice,

I am running Windows 98 on a Pentium2 - 350 with 512 meg.

I am thinking of replacing that PC for either a Pentium3 Dual 1000 with 512
meg or a Pentium4 1.8 with 512 meg running Windows 2000 Pro.

If I don't run any games on that PC, but run multi boot OS, including W2K
server and SQL 2000.

My main use for that PC is Email, Internet, Office softwares, Utilities, and
to test Server software.

For that use, would you recommand a P3-dual 1000 or a P4 1.8

Thanks in advance
