you know what try it anyway without the trust and see if it works. I have
never actually tried, I am just going on speculation.

If the computer is physically connected to domain B and your 2 domains have
a trust, then you want to setup domain b in that field. Your trust will pass
it through, or at least it should. If you don't have a trust, then it must
be setup on domain A and must have a user name and pass for that domain. I
am sure you knew that part, but felt like typing a bunch of extra words. :)

When you say "your domain" - do you mean the name of Domain A? as in example
below? In other words - If the Win 95 pc is currently logged on to domain B,
should the tab you're referring to specify domain A - in order to be able to
access a share on domain A and B?

I have seen this issue with a certain setting. If you go to the network
properties in the 98/95 machine. The middle tab, if I am not mistaken is
called identification. There is a text box called workgroup. This field
should be populated with the name of your domain. I know this is misleading
because it says workgroup but I have found that simple change to fix a lot
of problems like yours. I am going from memory of screen shots, but I think
you will see what I am talking about. Let me know how that works.

Subject: resource access
Dear Listers:
I have a scenario I was hopmg someone could assist me with:
Domain A is in LA
Domain B is FL
Linked via MS VPN
TCP/IP communication is no problem.
When you have a Win 95 pc that is logged on to Domain B and you try to map a
network drive to a shared resource on Domain A, you get a "You must be
logged on in order to complete this operation" error or something to the
effect. When you try accessing the resource with net use, you are prompted
for a password, but typing in the correct password results in "Network error
58" or something. With WINNT\2k you can net use to anything as long as you
have the correct user name and password for that resource, but in Win95\98
you cannot specify the user name (example: net use f: \\computer\share
/user:domaina\luser).
I know the simple answer: log on to Domain A - but this is a constraint.
Another constraint is that there must be NO trust relationship between
domains (political reasons); The Win 95 pc needs access to resources on BOTH
domains.
