Continuing on this topic a bit. Do you all install the server version on all
servers or just on a couple of servers and then push the client on servers
that won't administer NAV. For instance. You have 20 servers in one
location. Do you install the server version on all 20 servers? Or do you
just install the server version on 1 server as the primary and install the
client software on the rest of the servers? Is there anything different for
server version besides the AMS?

Remote client in NAVCE push works just fine when there is NO AV scanner
installed on the client... That's how I deployed it.

As I understand it, the remote client push only works if a version of NAV is
running on the client. It will override it and play nice. I have found that
some of my guinea pigs are failing because they are running Mcafee. Could
this be your prob?

I don't know. I have pushed the installs to the clients from the console and
the crap never works that way. Won't see the computer in the console. Can't
even discover it by IP address. Only way I can get it to work it to install
it from the CD and then run the discovery. Contacted Symantec about it and
they said that it should work, but no matter what I do it doesn't work
unless I run the install from the CD. The push to servers works like a charm
though.

a = disk 1
b = disk 2

2b. nav snap in
3b. ssc add ons
4a. live admin util
5a. quarantine console
6a. central quarantine locally

Well, that explains part of it. Under the server Group, All Tasks, there is
only View AMS log and Configure AMS log?!?!? Looks like I missed something.
At least that gives me a place to start hunting. Thanks.

I have installed the clients, they have found the server, and when I open up
the console, I even see the clients listed. But I can't figure out how to
set exclusions (don't scan this file or directory) or how to set what files
are scanned! The only thing I can do I configure the Live Update and that
doesn't help me much! Where are the other options? Isn't that the point of
centralized management? Being able to set the options from a central
location? Maybe have a couple of different groups for different
stitutations?
Can anyone else (maybe someone friendly) point me in the right direction?

RTFM. The clients have to be installed. It's usually done with
login
script, but can be done manually. Once installed, they update
automatically, they show up in the console, and you can set configuration
options from the central console.

I'm evaluating a copy of NAV 7.5 CE (thinking about installing for several
small offices I do computers for).
Maybe I'm dumb as a rock but I can't figure out how to configure the clients
for this thing. I've got a NAV Server (quararentine & alert
too) installed & I can see the clients on the network, but I can't configure
anything?!? What tool would one use to configure clients?
