You can use a resource kit utility called inuse.exe. However, you will have
to reboot the machine as this file would be copied during the loading phase.

Subject: Replacing corrupt kernel32.dll in NT4.0

I need to replace a compromised kernel32.dll file on an NT4.0 workstation
with NTFS. Can't do it from within Windows because the file is in use,
can't do it from DOS because of the NTFS.

Any ideas?

Thanks-
