May I ask from everyone who has this problem

1. Is the dit, tx log, OS, page file on seperate drives or how are they
configured.
2. How many objects are in the DIT and how many MB does it take up.
3. The dit is on a hardware based SCSI Raid 5 or Raid 1?
4. You are using the maching just as a DC and nothing else.
5. Have you done any maintenance on AD lately?

Subject: Huge slowdown trying to open "active directory users and
computers"

Whenever we open "active directory users and computers" under
Administrative
Tools, to add a user for example, our Dell SC2500 (1.0ghz/512mb mem.)
server
slows to a crawl for about thirty to sixty seconds as we wait for the
snap-in to open. Nothing else can be done during that time as that
function
seems to take almost 100% processing time and pings fail from clients
for
that 30-60 seconds.

No other desktop process run on the server (W2K, SP2) seems to cause
this
problem.

Any thoughts on the cause or cure?

Thanks,

Bill
