After you finish migrating all of your data, power off the old server, and
rename the new one?
If the old server has to be left on the air, adjust the login scripts to use
the new name \\fs1\share, it's a lot easier than trying to hack out a WINS
static mapping business, which wouldn't work anyways.
Good luck,
Kevin

Subject: NetBIOS naming problem...
Hi folks !
We have a PC that is named "FS" and it is going to be replaced
for a newer one called "FS1".
We need that the old mapping keep working with the old name...
For example: a share called \\fs\share keeps working before we change the
server name... how should I proceed ???
I've tried to create a static mapping at wins server but it
didn't work properly when we try to map through windows explorer...
Any sugestions ???
Regards
